In 8×01, the Doctor is looking in a mirror(then the plate in the restaurant) while considering who he is. In 8×09, first “the Doctor sees what Clara sees” implies that they are the same identity. Then there’s a take that Clara is looking into a mirror while discussing with the Doctor. They are not just sharing the same identity. Clara basically reflects how the Doctor sees himself. In this case they are not the good ones. But that’s how reflection works. Not all of them are true, just how we project our hell or dilemma to others.
