Oh, no… Now I keep thinking that if Clara is or isn’t pregnant. I really hope she is not.. it would bring such a shitstorm to the tags.

Okay, here’s the thing: I have totally considered that option. When all those reviews were appearing about the “emotional beginning of the episode” and all that and people were like “oh someone probably died” my first thought was actually “oh shit Clara is pregnant.”

But I’ve been saying this for ages and I still stand by it: I don’t believe in the whole Orson Pink legacy even the tiniest little bit. It was deliberately vague and the fact that he looked 100% like Danny and 0% like Clara makes literally any possibility that is not them having a kid together much more likely. Clone? Actually-Danny-who-pretends-not-to-be-Danny? I DON’T KNOW.

I don’t think she’s pregnant. I would be so disappointed, like I have never been disappointed on a level such as this for so many reasons and here’s some of them:

• I hate being told what’s gonna happen from the beginning (see Orson Pink as their ancestor shoved in our faces before they even started dating)
• Their relationship is frankly terrible and unhealthy and both Clara and Danny deserve someone else (Danny someone who won’t abuse his endless patience and Clara someone who’s just as awful as her in the lying department because no one else deserves to be treated like that)
• All the character development happening with Clara this season (that girl is so far removed from Earth life it’s not even funny. Clara in the beginning of the season could have settled down and have a kid. Clara now? JFC NO. That would be terrible for her! And the kid! I can almost smell the resentment brewing there)
• Shipper-goggles or not, Clara is in love with the Doctor. Like, this isn’t a matter of opinion, it’s canon fact. Clara suddenly getting pregnant and feeling forced to choose her life with Danny? That’s not a resolution to a love-triangle, that’s horrible writing. That’s the exact opposite of a choice, that’s taking the choice away from her and HELLO MORE RESENTMENT

All of that being said, I’m pretty hopeful it won’t happen. And then there’s always the “time can be rewritten” thing. Honestly, from what I’ve heard from the finale, all bets are off. Is Danny even gonna survive any of it? (Frankly, I don’t think so.) Was he ever alive in the first place while he knew Clara? Could undead-Danny even get anyone pregnant? Are they gonna tweak things so they never dated in an alternate timeline? Is she going to think she’s pregnant but she’s not or maybe she is but she’ll lose the baby somehow? Is Clara going to delete herself from the Doctor’s life in the past? Is she going to die or disappear in the finale?

Basically all those things I consider more likely than a Clara/Danny baby tbh. Then there’s also the thing that we already HAD a pregnant companion. It worked with Amy staying on the TARDIS because of all the other voodoo going on that had her basically be… not pregnant while she was ON the TARDIS, but you can’t have a heavily pregnant lady running through space that’s like horribly irresponsible.

It could be an exit strategy for Clara that will have her leave for good, but frankly, I think she’ll stay for another season, and as far as exit strategies go, this would be a super awful one for her character at the point she is now for all the reasons I mentioned above so I really hope for her sake it’s not gonna happen. I know she wants babies, and she can have all the babies she wants, but the point is that it should be her choice at a point in her life where she’s ready for that, and not now where she’d literally end up eternally blaming the kid for forcing her to leave the adventures behind.

All of that being said I really genuinely don’t think there will be an Oswink baby. Maybe I’m being way too optimistic about this season’s writing, but it was clearly making an effort to develop the characters for once and I would actually cry blood if they destroyed it all in the finale with a giant “fuck you” to the characters.

[And I know Moffat loves hurting his viewers in terrible ways, however, at the core of the show is always hope against all odds and considering that unless all the characters suddenly make a 180 degree turn they’ll be absolutely crushed by that, I don’t think it will happen]
