A few people asked me about the Tegan reference in my ask so I thought I would put this out there. Your theories and thoughts are welcome!
Tegan was one of my favourite companions, she is actually the longest consecutive companion even longer than SJS in episode numbers (versus serials). Actually I shipped her with Five, lol. Tegan traveled with the doctor accidentally. She is similar to Clara in that she was one of the first companions to have a home life and family and job (air stewardess) and didn’t travel with the Doctor full time. She was left behind once by the Doctor and didn’t travel with him for a year (he travelled with Peri) and then he picked her back up. I think her leaving Five was one of the saddest companion exits in that she basically looked at him and walked away after Resurrection of the Daleks proved too much.
I think he is referencing that Clara may stop traveling with the Doctor (in the time between the end of S8 and the Xmas special). But pulls a Tegan in that she starts traveling with the Doctor again for S9.
I also read somewhere, I am I am going to try and get my googlefu on so I can dig it out, that the whole line in MOTOE of having a “bit of a wobble” was an in joke to Jenna. In that, at the beginning she was not sure about working with someone new and that after working with Peter, she sort of changed her mind. I swear, I will have to see if i can dig that back out.
