I’m glad someone else has already addressed why the Cybermen are the perfect enemy to end this season on, because I see this and all I can think of are those tanks of Dark Water, stripping away the view of cold scaled armor and passive masked faces, leaving nothing but bones and scant scraps of flesh.

To all the outside world the Doctor is cold, armored with clinical detachment.  Underneath that, though, he is raw and vulnerable, and he feels everything.
