I cannot let this episode go by without commenting on the Foundry being attacked by Harkness.  What a difference a year makes!  Last year, when Slade infiltrated the Foundry, the team was defeated.  This year, three strong women came together to defend the Foundry and each other.  For Caitlin, this was her first real exposure to a deadly situation and she did exactly what she should have done – she hid, stayed out of the way so that Lyla and Felicity could do what they needed to do.  Lyla’s training kicked in – she kept her cool.  She didn’t hesitate, and fought back, managing to retrieve a gun from the cabinet to defend herself and Felicity and Caitlin.

Felicity.  Girl, you have developed a level of coolness that is beyond compare.  Our IT girl was calm in her fear and steady in her defense of the Foundry.  She shouted out succinct directions to Lyla on where to find a gun, saw another weapon that could be used and slowly made her way to the cabinet to get one of Oliver’s exploding Arrow attachments.  She calculated the risks, moved at the right time, and saved them all by throwing that exploding attachment at Harkness.  Once the danger is passed, Felicity calls out for Caitlin who sweeps in with her medical training to stabilize Lyla.  This was teamwork at its finest.  Three strong women who didn’t need a man to rescue them.  They were brave and they were bold.

Arrow and The Flash write these women exceedingly well.  They are all strong in their own ways with just the right amount of vulnerability that fits their characters.  I loved seeing them work together and their friendships developing.  I hope to see more in the future!
