The Doctor and Clara problems from last season feature prominently, but we won’t explain how the two misguided friends do end up in a better place than at the end of last season.  The closing moments between two lead actors are sure to bring a tear your eye.  But the biggest thrill and surprise of Last Christmas was seeing Capaldi’s Doctor in moment of sheer joy and wonder.  We had forgotten how joyful the Doctor can be and it was good to see this regeneration taking on some of the wonder in the universe that Eccleston, Tennant and Smith all featured.
