#i think a lot about this scene #because he’s happy she’s happy with someone #even though it’s not him #he’s happy and sad at the same time #it’s a perfect callback to his grumpiness earlier #where he claims not to understand #having those two emotions concurrently #he thinks she’s telling danny she loves him #and he’s happy for her #but he thinks it’s the last he’ll see of her #the doctor’s love #is not a selfish love #or at least #he tries to make it unselfish #he tries to be a good man #even when it breaks his hearts
He tries to be a good man, and that’s probably the point. The irony in that “two emotions at once” statement is visible here, and again in “Dark Water”. He’ll do anything for her, and she’ll ask anything of him. Healthy? Oh dear. No. But it might become so some day.
I just can’t stand how clear it is right here how much he loves her.
