Neko Atsume coaster! Inspired by my favourite cat, Hamilton (fka Bolt), who is insatiable and really loves this particular fish-shaped toy.

This started as a plain cat coaster from this pattern, and about halfway through it occurred to me that I could make a Neko Atsume catface, so once I finished the ears I added an extra row around the bottom half with some varying stitch heights to make the head shape less round.

I had the best experience doing the embroidery when I did the left eye, was surprisingly satisfied with it, had a false start trying to line up the right eye, and thought to myself geez, why am I doing it this way when I should just use copy/paste from the left one!! I sometimes also try to mentally use ctrl-F when I’m looking for a specific word or phrase in a printed document. I love computers. I love them so much.
