Less is more, less is a bore. Architect AU, ~9.5k words.

She wants to hate it. She really, really does. It’s harsh and
monolithic, a heavy, alien thing. There’s too many right angles, too
much unbroken concrete. The foot traffic flows are all wrong – a
bottleneck by the lifts, a clearly-demarcated path almost entirely
ignored, people backtracking and circling around with baffled
expressions.

But there’s something about the way the light
filters through the entrance hall, the shadows cast by the staircase.
Something about the way the room changes as the sun sets. An odd,
unexpected sort of peace.
