What would be the top 10 rebelcaptain fics that I should read, that you would recommend? Can be long, short, au, canon, non-canon anything :)

What a wonderful and hard question. I don’t think of anything as should read so this is more recs of fics that stuck with me. Also I’ve been sadly so busy with work that I haven’t been reading or writing as much as I’d like to and I know I’ve lost track of great fics posted on Tumblr.

Semantics by Katsumi, I love the slow build and domesticness of this and especially how Kay is written. As someone who tends to focus on Cassian, a good Kay will always make me happy.

Tooky by Imsfire, I adore them working together and the cat.

A family can be 2 traumatised soldiers and their 30 kids by Moonprincess92, I’m a teacher and this fic makes me happy as the kids make sense and I love how Jyn and Cassian connect with each other and the kids. es

Also along the same lines, I don’t think I have a link for it but the foster care AU by I think @lyresandlasers where Jyn has adopted Finn and Rey and Cassian’s the teacher. Its another one where all the interactions just click and I love how everyone’s slowly helping each other.

A bad idea by Moonprincess92, a modern AU that made me laugh and has really good steamy sex.

Consequential Error by NewLeeLand, I’ve never been good at figuring out the hows of them escaping but I love how this fic answers. I could also rec so many other by NewLeeLand as we share some of the same interests in terms of wondering about history and how it works in this world. The Problem of Remembering is a one like that, which asks how do we remember our heroes and who are they heroes to.

There is a Time, There is a Place by SuchStuffDreamsAreMadeOn which is a what if Jyn and Cassian had met as young people. I find this idea intriguing and the way this fic captures both of them already shaped by the forces in their lives is powerful. Somewhere there’s also a Tumblr fic inspired by an image of younger Diego and them meeting as teens and both being distracted by the other. I wish I could remember who wrote it because that’s one I’d love to revisit. This is one of those story ideas where I feel like that cartoon of there can never be too many cakes as it can be interpreted in a multitude of great ways.

Lullaby by SuchStuffDreamsAreMadeOn, which is one of the angstier fics I’ve read but so good.

Since When Do We Deserve by Hooda, this fic still has one of my favorite lines about Cassian, where Jyn sees that he doesn’t think he deserves happiness with her. Its something that I think is one of the saddest and hardest parts of Cassian, this fic just gets it.

Heaven’s Not Far Away (and I’m not gonna leave you here) by Irelando, this is the Pacific Rim AU that I was lucky enough to help beta with. I love how the story is transposed, it all makes sense. And helping work on this inspired me to really get going on my Leverage AU.

Here are ten, I know there are even more I enjoy out there, but these capture a lot of what I think this fandom does best in writing, all the feelings and happy sighs.
