Hello! It’s your May the 4th gifter again. I’ve been working on your fic and I’ve been trying to come up with reasons as to why Jyn and Cassian would be going through a rough patch in their relationship. What if they get into an argument because Jyn did something that was unnecessarily reckless and nearly got herself killed while on a mission? What if Cassian is forced to imagine what it would be like if she were dead and he were still alive? Maybe that reminds him of Scarif? What do you think?

Hi! I think all those scenarios are great. 

I headcanon that Cassian internally struggles with the risks that Jyn takes. He completely understands why she takes them, how inherent it is to her, but it still causes him a lot of sleepless nights. To your point, he worries that it’s one risk to many and she won’t come home; he worries that she will risk everything for him and then he’ll be faced with the endless void of her absence; he worries that if he tamps down that reckless side of her he change who she is fundamentally and that isn’t what he wants. Lol,  I could go on!
