under the influence

Cassian was wobbling and Jyn was trying to not let the memories of Scarif take over, “Just keep walking.”

“M’fine, Jyn, don’t know what they put in that stuff,” He was trying to stand straighter but the ISB officer had slipped him something. She hated that they’d been tricked so badly and she couldn’t burn them down. Getting out and away had to come first then someone would pay for this.

“No, you’re not but you will be soon,” He was holding himself up more and they weren’t going to die. This was better.

“Sorry, should hide out then I’ll sleep it off. You can go ahead and I’ll be fine,” That was his reassuring voice, she hated that. Did he used to do this to Kay? Kay wouldn’t like this, Kay would lecture him and would when they got to the ship while Bodhi would look concerned. Did Draven let him do it?

“I’m not leaving you anywhere,” Though diverting their trail might be a good idea. She picked a motel and glared at the clerk. Cassian sank down on the bed and looked at her with such a sad look.

“Safer if you keep going,” He was trying to focus on her and she sat next to him.

“Stop that and get some rest,” She gave him a stern look as he leaned back though he kept trying to keep his eyes open.

“Love you, Jyn, don’t get hurt for me, not worth it.”

Jyn closed her eyes and leaned down to hold him saying softly, “Don’t do that. I’m here and not leaving you behind. Love you too.”

He nodded and she felt his breathing steady and he slept, she didn’t let herself sleep, not until she’d checked the comms and in. Then she ran her hands through his hair and slept once she’d set an alarm on the door.
