Galen Erso is a Scientist turned Politician that is trying to get a clean energy bill passed, and has left his former party in favor of being an Independent. He’s so popular with his middle of the road politics, simply wanting a better world, that there’s even talk of him being the next Vice President, as he refuses to ever run for President.

Problem is, Orson Krennic, who helped him get into politics, is just a little pissed off that his former friend isn’t voting as he wants. Therefore, he tries to threaten Galen, who publicly releases all of the blackmail Orson has on him… which means his next step is to threaten Galen’s daughter.

Jyn Erso can take care of herself, but that doesn’t stop her father from worrying. She has taken years of various self defense and martial arts classes, and she’s a genius like her father, studying chemistry and mathematics. She’s not afraid of what Orson Krennic might try to do, but that doesn’t stop her father from getting her a bodyguard.

Enter, Cassian Andor, former Special Forces, and possibly future Secret Service. He happily takes the job, even goes so far as to say that this should be easy, because she’s an annoying little pretty princess, and there’s no way a businessman is going to have her kidnapped.

That all changes when two guys try to take Jyn off the street, and she beats the shit out of them, while Cassian watches on in shock.
