Cassian
has always been a loner – quiet and smart, always keeping to himself. Jyn has
always been anything but – smart and studious, of course, but also popular and dating one of
the hottest guys in school.

Everything
changes though when Cassian’s little brother, Rafael, goes missing. After 3 weeks
of looking for him, a boy’s body is found in the nearby quarry. Neither Cassian
nor his mother believe it’s really him. Strange things have already happened,
stranger things are just about to start.

His mother
believes that his brother is held captive in an alternate dimension and now Jyn,
who is Rafael’s best friend’s sister, starts questioning him about the disappearance
of her best friend, Barb. As if he would know anything about that. All he has
is a blurred photo of her shortly before she’s gone missing as well – and Jyn’s
certainty of seeing a monster in the picture.

Finally,
after 4 weeks his brother is found but it’s clear that Barb is dead.

Jyn and
Cassian form an unlikely team – at first in trying to bring down the creature
that kept Cassian’s brother prisoner, later in resolving and ultimately
avenging Barb’s death – and become friends. They not only share battle wounds
but also a past of abandonment. However, a lot of people don’t like their
budding friendship, least of all Jyn’s boyfriend, Han.

A year
after Rafael’s abduction and Barb’s death, Jyn is determined to take
investigation of her friend’s death into her own hands. Of course, Cassian
will be at her side.
