ASK HER OUT he just keeps it absolutely off the table  #and only gets involved to help her or to ensure her comfort and happiness in ways she’ll never know about  #even when – especially when – it’s in ways that personally will hurt him  #and even after she comes through the worst of The Bullshit and it’s basically expected by everyone that he’ll make a move  #he still hangs back! bc how could she ever love him right? and is so surprised when marianne is like I DON’T HALF-ASS ANYTHING  #I WHOLE-ASS EVERYTHING  #INCLUDING LOVING YOU  #MY HEART HAS 2 MODES: ZERO AND 5 MILLION AND YOU BOY HAVE APPEARED IN THE SECOND COLUMN  #AND THERE YOU WILL REMAIN  #(marianne is an all-caps person. obviously.)
