Cassian steers them towards the old director, and Tanith clutches her
date’s arm, giggling. She likes the way their hands fit into each
other, and his fingers are warm.

“Where are we going, Joreth?”

He gives a quiet laugh. “Somewhere without a crowd.”

Force,
someday she’ll force him to tell her how he does that, how he makes his
voice give just the right amount. Not even she would be able to tell
the difference if she didn’t know better. And the worst of it is –
stars, what she wouldn’t give to hear the real thing.
