41 ‘I thought I’d never see you again’ hug – rebelcaptain

The docks are loud, full of weeping women and husbands, of children laughing as they embrace their fathers. Jyn taps her foot as she waits, tucked into a shadow. She doesn’t fit with the rest of the wives, in their pretty dresses and bonnets, wringing their hands as they wait for their sailors to come back from sea. She’s not waiting. She hasn’t had word from Cassian for months, and that means one of two things. Either he’s chosen not to send her any letters, or he can’t. She’s not sure which would be worse–Cassian, dying on some foreign shore, with no one but Kay at his side, or Cassian, with a pretty wife like one of the women out there in another port, without a thought for the woman he left behind. 

That’s a lie, of course. If he’s alive, at least she’d have the pleasure of killing him herself.
