Nikolina Appreciation Week 2020 ♛ Day 3: Fairytale AU

→ After denying the advances of a duke, princess Alina finds herself cursed twith thorns growing on her hands, the initially pesky things growing whenever she touches anything or anyone. Soon it becomes clear this curse isn’t a simple irritating thing. Her land grows infested with thorny bushes, roses blooming everywhere to the point they become a plague. 

Unable to grow close to anyone or to help her kingdom as it is, Alina sets out on a quest to find the famous emeralds that grow from fallen stars, fabled to cure any curse, no matter how bad or strange.

Not far into her quest, Alina crosses paths with a handsome stranger. Or rather, she’s robbed of her coin purse by an handsome thief, whose hazel eyes shine with mischief when she pins him down and threatens to cut his throat. 

The thief, Nikolai, offers to return her things if she tells him why such a pretty princess is trekking through the wild forests. Stunned by his keen eye, Alina finds herself admitting to be in search of the emeralds, keeping to herself the why.

“It is told they’re lost in the highest peak of Rayka Mountain. You’ll need someone who knows the way.“ Someone like him.

But Alina doesn’t really want to travel with such a cheeky thief. Except she knows he’s her only shot. Offers of riches beyond his dreams, and admitting to need his help, that’s all it takes for the thief whose smile makes her stomach flutter to join her.

Little do they know that Fate has more in store for them than just a simple quest for gemstones. For her curse can also be broken… with True Love’s kiss.
