This is exactly what I am talking about. I 100% agree with you. If I knew more about Danny;s background, if I knew how he became this caring, too perfect guy, I might just care more about what is happening to him right now. I actually liked the flashbacks since there was more Danny character development shown after he died than pretty much all season. I think if we saw more of what Clara supposedly saw in him, it would be more tragic for me.
tomorrow we will only give them a leaf of the tree of our love, a leaf which will fall on the earth like if it had been made by our lips, like a kiss which falls from our invincible heights to show the fire and the tenderness of a true love.
Can we just talk about how much the Doctor loves her:
puts her in a dream state to find out what is going on and how far she will go
tells her that his feelings are real despite her betrayal
tells her to go hell (which was the best line and delivered perfectly)
how he’s all, why you leaving bb, we gotta go to hell to get Danny back
holds her hand and asks if she is alright
and will hit the guy with his shoe if he doesn’t hurry up (which i died over)
how is this not canon, someone tell me?

This is like kind of the opposite of what I wanted, but better than I thought we’d get.
This was so much better than my worst case scenario brain went to! Definitely opposite of what I wanted but could have been worse. The first ten minutes alone made the whole ep worth it.
