people who think clara is evil frustrate me super much 😐 she’s a mirror of the doctor, and the doctor’s neither good NOR bad.
This so much!! I think that this was also kind of the point of this episode as well. Going back to the line last week about choices, they have to be made sometimes, good or bad.
My Doctor Who S8E9 – Flatline – Thoughts
The companion is the one who is supposed to remind him where the line is, to pull him back from it. Now we have Clara really understanding the Doctor, knowing what it’s like to be him even for a short time. She’s making the hard choices and that unbalances the Doctor. He’s left sitting there wondering what he’s done to this lovely woman. What Davros said in the S4 finale is very accurate. The Doctor ends up turning his companions into weapons

The reflection/mirror-as-identity motif.
In 8×01, the Doctor is looking in a mirror(then the plate in the restaurant) while considering who he is. In 8×09, first “the Doctor sees what Clara sees” implies that they are the same identity. Then there’s a take that Clara is looking into a mirror while discussing with the Doctor. They are not just sharing the same identity. Clara basically reflects how the Doctor sees himself. In this case they are not the good ones. But that’s how reflection works. Not all of them are true, just how we project our hell or dilemma to others.
