#the most frustrating thing in the world is liz’s lack of independence in the narrative #she’s tormented manipulated patronized and threatened #her agency is limited her information tightly controlled #which is not insurmountable for a female character the narrative is deeply interested in #or even honestly committed to #but all characters are pretty much accessories to red for these showrunners #oh boone is good and we’re given moments to see her frustration and her fear and her determination #but she’s not being treated like a co-lead and for this kind of show you need a dynamic foil to red #she’s being treated like a second string character
he kidnapped her from work, flew her to portland, drove her to the gorge, and had us waiting at the waterfall to capture this perfectly orchestrated proposal.
