i was killing time between lectures today in waterstones and after recovering from seeing the john hurt time war book sitting there bold as brass, i picked up a copy of ‘Doctor Who – The Eleventh Hour: A Critical Celebration of the Matt Smith and Steven Moffat Era’ out of a sense of morbid curiosity

to be met immediately with a paragraph saying that Rose/Martha/Donna were meek and submissive to the Doctor’s masculinity, while Amy is ‘post-feminism’ and then had the quote from Karen saying that both she and Amy have never experienced sexism/that feminism isn’t necessary for them etc etc

I just don’t get the whole soldier thing, it feels completely forced and just a trope to give the Doctor a reason to not like Danny. I do agree with you on the end with Danny and the control vibe FORESHADOWING. Honestly, it has Moffat’s hands all over it and it reminds me of how he wrote Amy towards the end of her stay. Like making the companion act completely OOC to prep us for their departure. And the nethersphere, honestly, I give 0 fucks about it.
