i don’t care how many episodes i’ve enjoyed of s8. if the emotional arcs don’t make sense, if the character arcs are paced poorly, if characterization is treated like an afterthought, s8 will not be a good season. it can’t be.

biclaras:

some of the episodes in s8 might prove to be some of my favorites (i mean, i adored listen, time heist and motoe) but that won’t mean much if moffat doesn’t take care of the big picture stuff.

at this point i’m having a hard time understanding what we’re supposed to be thinking. the narrative is unclear on several fronts: who does clara love? what is the overarching theme of the season? what does the doctor want from a companion? what should a companion want from traveling?

that’s a lot of questions that need to be answered in the finale, let alone the questions of missy and the heaven arc. i’m not going to hold my breath.
