also the most interesting and touching thing to me is that the doctor’s been constantly commenting on clara’s appearance/age throughout the previous season when she very obviously looked no different, but the second she actually does he can’t tell. he literally has no idea. and it makes me think that it’s not her age that he’s really been commenting on – what he’s been doing is continuously reaffirming that as time is passing, he’s been there for it, he hasn’t missed any big chunk of time until the six months before this episode. so what hurts him when it’s 62 years later isn’t the fact that she’s older, it’s that he missed 62 years of her life that he was set on spending with her. and that’s what does it for him, that’s what has him begging her to travel with him again – not only that he can’t imagine spending his life without her, but more so that he can’t imagine not being present in hers. he has all the time in the world and it all belongs to clara
