Totally hijacking this since I started to type this in your ask and tumblr’s stupid character count = UGH

I wanted to ask after yesterday’s quick talk and meta and having just rewatched S3 myself, do you think you will address Malcolm’s feelings after hitting Glenn? I ask cause I really believe Malcolm felt bad about it after. Like really, really bad about it. Glenn is one of the few there that he “likes” and he feels bad about hitting him. I just thought that whoel exchange between them was fascinating and wondered your POV on it. Your story mentioned that Glenn had observed that Malcolm had starting wearing a ring & it seems like a nice tie in.

So hi there and hope the original writing is going well!~ Yay!

Hello, hello! No worries about the hijacking. I’m always happy to talk meta about Malcolm~

First, yay for submitting your short story and I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Exciting stuff.

Yes I did notice in the specials that Malcolm understood Glenn’s insecurities and was one of the most sympathetic to him during that night. I loved, loved that he asked Glenn to come downstairs.
While I do believe that Malcolm was sincerely sorry for hitting Glenn, I do believe that his apology that was semi-off camera in the bathroom was more sincere than Malcolm calling him his buddy in front of others. That was Malcolm in damage control mode, publicaly reinforcing his positive relationship with Glenn. So you see the two sides of the life that Malcolm does have to live, always always aware that every sentence, every word, every action is there for public scrunity and he can really only offer his sincerity behind closed doors (the bathroom with Glenn for example).

“Anyway, it was played for laughs but Malcolm’s response of getting Hugh to come back instead of Glenn (not wanting to interrupt the latter’s holiday by choosing to interrupt Hugh’s holiday instead) always kinda struck me as the closest thing Malcolm came to expressing his gratitude for Glenn’s consideration. Inconveniencing Hugh was just an added benefit.”

I do agree with this and I think this reflects how I feel Malcolm approaches Glenn. Honestly, I kind of adore Glenn and think that his own jockeying and insecurity was played perfectly.

And yes, the rabbit hole intensifies. I am falling in….
