(Thanks to badwolfrun for the gorgeous banner!)

I’ve been talking about it for months, and it’s almost here: the first ever Doomsday Month–thirty-one days dedicated to one of the most painful series finales ever.

How can I participate?

Any way you like! Edits, gif sets, fanfic, starting a discussion either on your blog or by sending a question to me or perfectlyrose–honestly anything. In fact, the more variety, the better. (And despite the tagline for the event, I’m really hoping to see new reunion/fixit fics!)

For the purposes of this event (and in general when Kelsey and I talk about Doomsday), we’re referring to the entire two-parter. In queuing things, I noticed not much attention has been paid to the second half of Army of Ghosts, so if you’re looking to do something unique, there’s an idea.

The tag to use/track/block is #Doomsday Month. I’m tracking it, and I’ll be reblogging and queuing things from the tag all month.

Why are you doing this?

Well, let’s start with the obvious. We both love Doomsday. As painful as it is, it is also brilliant storytelling. Cybermen and Daleks and a heartrending separation? it doesn’t get much better than that, as far as plot goes.

So when I looked at the calendar and realised that the entirety of the Doomsday section of To Make Much of Time would be posted in July, and that the 9th anniversary of Doomsday’s original airing happens to be the 8th, hosting a celebration of the episode just seemed like a natural thing to do. I invited Kelsey to host with me since her love of Doomsday is well-known, and she already does #Doomsday Tuesday.

That’s about it. I’m starting the month a day early, since tomorrow’s chapter of TMMOT starts the Doomsday section. Wednesday I’ll post an official launch post, and then we’re off. Come join us!
