TV Shows I Wish Were Real – Gracefully aging soap opera diva  Ava Thompson (Rebecca Front) isn’t  a method actress, but when she lands the coveted role of  Detective Inspector Mia Skye in the television adaptation of the popular Skye’s The Limit book series she decides a little research is just what she needs.

After shadowing  brilliant Scotland Yard detective Madeleine “Maddy” Rourke (Angel Coulby) and Maddy’s cockeyed-optimist sergeant Vikrim Kapoor (Dev Patel)  to learn the ropes,  the actress soon finds that she has a talent and a taste for solving real murders.  Ava’s party animal  costar Liam Gardner (Chris Addison)–a former child actor and a wannabe Casanova– soon finds himself tagging along to the real crime scenes–not because he fancies himself a detective but rather because he rather fancies Maddy.

However, Maddy’s boss DCS Colin Locke (Peter Capaldi), at first thrilled by the good publicity the actors brought to the station, finds himself frustrated  their  actors’ interference in his murder cases–and by Ava herself, who is just as infuriating as she is attractive.

In front of the camera, however, Ava must still contend with her rising celebrity, exhaustion from her night job with the police, and considerable tension–on and off-screen– with her ex Robert Anderson  (Iain Glen) who plays handsome pathologist David Flyte, Mia Skye’s love interest.
