Day 6 theme : Modern AU

i do, do you? by

(T)

Jyn settles at the computer and shifts the mouse to
wake it, before typing in her password, eight letters – stardust. The
machine grinds into life and she opens up Chrome, and the blue and white
of the Facebook splash page invites her to log in, so she does, eight
letters – stardust.

She is greeted with several dozen
notifications and more than a few messages. Her stomach drops. Has
someone died? No, surely someone would have texted her. She reaches for
her phone, and presses the home button to wake it, but the screen
remains blank. Perhaps she should have charged it last night.
Tentatively,
she clicks her messages. The top one is from her father, who has
messaged her repeatedly since the early hours of the morning. His last
message reads simply,

Stardust, why did you not think to invite your own father to your wedding?

What the everlasting fuck.

Jyn scoffs. “I mean, at this point, they might as well
just come out and say it to my face, right?” She drops her voice into a
low imitation of Chirrut’s stately drawl. “‘Jyn — no one cares about your feelings.’

Cassian snorts. “Well, to be fair,” he says conversationally, “everyone’s still on the fence about whether you actually have feelings.”

Or, the one where Jyn and Cassian start sleeping together casually, and everyone feels the need to check on Cassian but not Jyn.

“Come on,” she wheedles. “I’ll do the laundry for two
weeks. I’ll pay for beer the next time we go out.” She waves her hands
in the air, momentarily flailing around for more ideas. “I’ll go down on
you.”

Cassian looks up then. “You’re not going to go down on me.”

She snorts on sheer impulse. “You underestimate the depths of my desperation.”

Or, the one where Jyn and Cassian start doing each other sexual favours. Because, why not.

“Ok, this is bloody ridiculous,” Jyn finished her
drink, before slamming it down onto the coffee table in front of them.
“Let’s just have sex.”

Cassian choked on his beer.

Chirrut stares at him, on the point of saying
something, but when he nods silently Cassian turns away, to stop as he
asks, “Will you follow her?”

Cassian turns to watch Jyn at the
bar, eyes tracing over every detail as if to imprint them into his
memory. She is laughing at something Bodhi is saying; relaxed in a way
that dares anyone to ruin this moment.

“I don’t think so, Chirrut –
she left for a reason and the way I treated her….she doesn’t owe me
anything.” He looks back at the two men that have been his confidantes
and his courage these last months and the corner of his mouth lifts in a
small, sad smile.

“And Jyn? Will you miss her?”

“All the rest of my life.” He turns away, heading for the bar’s exit before anyone else can intercept him.

“I thought maybe, if Mothma approves, I might see if I could help out more. Clearly you need my help,” she adds quickly.

“Good.”

Jyn reaches out, sets her hand on the bed. “You wouldn’t mind, me being around?” she asks.

Cassian smiles. It’s the first time she thinks she’s seen one reach his eyes. “I think I’ll survive it.”

Detective Jyn Erso is leaving the NYPD to take up a new job in Washington D.C.

She has exactly one more case to somehow tell her partner that she’s been in love with him the last four years.

“Do you have coffee?” The man asked. She didn’t know
his name, but he looked very professional. Dripping wet, but very
professional.

“No,” Jyn said.

“We have coffee, ignore her,” Bodhi called as he went to replenish the napkins.

Y2Cake (for the end of the world) by @kotaface  (M)

December 31st, 1999: the world stands on the brink of a
new millennium. Despite the looming threat of Y2K, Jyn’s friends are
throwing a New Year’s Eve party, intending to go out with a bang if the
world actually does end. Everyone will be there, including her crush, Cassian. Bodhi keeps talking about how its “now or never.”

Jyn’s not worried. Why should not having a “2” on the clocks cause the end of the world?

That’s just stupid.

Jyn is aggressively uninterested in meeting her soulmate. To be fair, she’s also just generally aggressive.

A Little Friendly Advice by @mosylufanfic

Jyn and Cassian have this, like, thing. That’s not a
relationship. Or maybe it is. Whatever. For some reason, their friends
all feel the need to give them advice about what to do for Valentine’s
Day with their not-really-a-relationship.

Some of it is better than others.

Cassian returns to Phoenix after eighteen months in Vancouver hoping everything’s the same as it was when he left.

It’s not, of course. But he’s okay with that. He’s fine. Everything’s fine.

i guess i’m going down, like this by @leaiorganas (T)

Jyn once asked her father how he knew that Lyra was his soulmate and he laughed quietly.

“It was in her touch.”

It would be years before she understood that he meant it literally.

Jyn is trying to get over a breakup, and her friends are helping by setting her up on dates.

Which she appreciates, she really does.

But it would be a lot more helpful if they would set her up with someone other than her ex.
