I agonized over choosing a quote for these two, since so many of theirs are fantastic. In the end, I went with this scene because it shows so beautifully that Cameron’s attraction to House’s “damage” isn’t a quest for someone to fix; it’s her reaching out to a kindred spirit. The fact that she turns his own catchphrase—his relentless, insatiable “why?”—back on him is telling, and so is her tacit implication that she sees him as a good person.
